Despite intense second-half pressure the Villa deny Spurs with a fourth consecutive premiership clean-sheet and bring back a hard-earned point from North London in the day's live late-afternoon game.
Warnock has still not recovered from his shin injury so O'Neill went with the same XI. Carew returned albeit on the bench.
This fixture usually brings more than it's fair share of goals and the game started with both teams looking to get the ball forward.
SPurs were first to show and Bentley and Huddlestone were prominent. The latter forcing Friedel to desperately beat out a ferocious 20yd drive.
Modric might have had the rebound in the net but Cuellar was quick to prevent a clear view of goal.
At the other end Gomes did well to prevent a Milner rocket being the opener and recovering to stop Agbonlahor finding the net from an acute angle.
After a heavy challenge by Palacios on eleven minutes, Heskey needed attention before hobbling off before the game was a quarter old.
The Villa were being bottled up in the middle which led to some long ball tactics as the Villa relieved the pressure and looked to counter.
The Spurs might have edged the possession and the chances but despite the entertainment value, particulary for the neutral, it remained scoreless at half-time. |

The Villa get back to winning ways with a contolled victory on the banks of the Thames this afternoon. An important league win, the first since before Christmas came courtesy of two goals from leading striker Gabriel Agbonlahor.
O'Neill played pretty much his favoured XI with the exception of Warnock who had not shaken off a shin problem. Luke Young came in at left-back but Carew was also missing through injury.
The Villa controlled the midfield for the majority of the first half but the Cottagers might have gone ahead when a Davies volley bounced off Friedel.
Ashley Young and Downing were constantly switching flanks and keeping the Fulham midfield guessing.
Heskey should have done better with a cross from the right but he got uder the ball and the header went over.
Heskey was again invloved, bundling into Schwarzer afger another Downing cross and the ref rightly gave a foul.
Luke Young met a cross from the left and the home goalie had to be smart to prevent the opener. Villa's first clear-cut opening.
It was still goalless but with the half winding down the Villans struck.
Some good work in the middle saw the ball fed to Petrov on the right and his play was a first time cross.

In excess of 39,000 fans saw the Villa and Arsenal battle out an intruiging goalless draw at Villa Park in this midweek fixture.
Petrov, Dunne, Heskey and Luke Young returned to the line-up but the full-back was on the left flank.
The Villa had slightly the better of the first half but were still relieved to go in all-square at halftime.
Agbonlahor forced a good save from Almunia early on after Heskey played him in and a Petrov cross was just too high for the Villa youngster shortly after.
Downing had a great chance to open the scoring but squandered the opportunity, firing over after beating off the attentions of Clichy.
Villa's tormentor in chief from the season's previous encounter was prominent again.
Seconds before the break Fabregas' effort beat Freidel but struck the far post.

The Villa ended the week with a League Cup Final appearance in the bag and in the hat for the 5th round of the FA Cup; draw Sunday evening.
It was not easy though as the team 56 places below the Villa in the League made it a grand day out for their noisy following.
A very much changed team saw youngsters, Delph, Albrighton and Delfouneso each get a run-out along with Sidwell, Beye and Luke Young. Long-term injury victim Curtis Davies returned on the bench.
A near full-house had barely settled down when the Villa went ahead when Delfouneso turned in Albrighton's cross from the right.
Despite confidence from the goal and the difference in class the Villa could not add to their tally. When the Seagulls drew level before the break it was a deserved scoreline.
From a corner, Elphick made the most of some sloppy marking and the teams went in level.
