After Stamford Bridge a coupla' weeks ago and the way our seasons typically go, and this one is looking no different, we can't say we were surprised at getting knocked out at the last hurdle.
From the off it looked as though we had gotten over any hangover from the previous meeting.
The tactics looked to be working but we were woefully weak in the final third and never showed up in front of goal. Did Cech have to make a save? Milners early long-range effort the only threat and that was wide (just)of the mark.
Apart from one or two crosses the majority turned out to be nothing balls and they managed to stifle any quick break counter-attacking attempts.
Still, it was another officiating blunder that might just have cost the Villa. Not saying that overall we deserved to win but an early goal would have changed the dynamics of the game.
If plonker Webb is the best referee we have then lord help us. A clear view and a wimp-weak non-decision from the bald-headed ass-wipe.
But the next non-decision when he had another clear view was that tackle by thugtwat Terry on Milner.
If you see a worse tackle, and this wasn't a tackle it was an assault, then I'll kiss my arse.
Watching replays in slow-motion Milner must have legs and joints of steel.
Of course the wankers that are Sky Sports (from what we've seen in the US) haven't made a mention .
But in the finish it doesn't deflect from the fact that once again (predictably?) our overworked squad of twelve hit the wall at the 70 minute mark and faded.
Right at the death it appeared if we couldn't give a shit and were praying for the final whistle.
Anything but a win on Wednesday when the Toffees come to town and this season will be consigned to the bin. File it in the "seen it all before category."
